Emi Maritz

Emi Maritz is a seasoned geologist with extensive experience in the mining industry, currently serving as the AME Group Resource Geologist for Barrick Gold Corporation since January 2023. Previous roles include Chief Geologist Evaluation at AngloGold Ashanti, where responsibilities involved overseeing the Evaluation function and delivering Mineral Resource models, and Senior Mine Geologist at First Quantum Minerals LTD, providing operational support at the Kansanshi Mine in Zambia. Emi's career also includes significant tenure at AngloGold Ashanti as Senior Specialist in Mineral Resources and Snr Evaluation Geologist, complemented by consultancy experience at Snowden and Gemcom Software International. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Mining and Mineral Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, a PGDip in Management Practice from the University of Cape Town, and a Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences with majors in Geology and Computer Science from the University of Johannesburg, along with ongoing studies for a BSc Honours in Geology.
