Gareth Smith

Gareth Smith is an experienced executive currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Barwon Coast since February 2024. Prior to this role, Gareth held multiple leadership positions within the City of Greater Geelong, including Director of City Planning & Economy and Director of Planning, Design & Development, from November 2018 to February 2024. Gareth also served as General Manager of Development and Community Services at Colac Otway Shire from October 2016 to October 2018, and was the CEO of Corangamite CMA from April 2010 to October 2016, as well as CEO of Adelaide Shores from 2004 to 2010. Early in the career, Gareth worked as the Geelong Waterfront Coordinator for the City of Greater Geelong from 2000 to 2003. Educational qualifications include a Company Director degree from the AICD and an Applied Science degree in Environmental Management from Deakin University.
