Scot Sobey is currently a Non-Executive Director at Base Resources. Prior to this, they served as the Vice President of Business Development at First Uranium Corporation from January 2007 to July 2009. In this role, Scot was responsible for the identification and implementation of various strategic commercial arrangements critical to the future success of First Uranium’s phase 1 and 2 projects. Scot also led a team of 30 people.
Before joining First Uranium Corporation, Scot worked as a Senior Consultant at Gemini Consulting from November 2003 to February 2005. At Gemini Consulting, Scot was part of a business transformation team engaged by South Africa’s electricity utility company, Eskom, to review and revise their business model in anticipation of deregulation. Scot led the scenario planning workstream which was responsible for modelling critical success scenarios, with pathways agile enough to cater for regulatory uncertainties. Scot also co-led the division mandates work stream which developed key decision rights and accountabilities for their generation, transmission and distribution divisions. This included developing a corporate centre, division and business unit strategy’s and managing complex elements and stakeholders.
Scot Sobey has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cape Town. Scot also has a Higher Grade Matric Exemption from Parktown Boys High School.
