Douglas Sumerford is an experienced professional in the field of entomology and pest resistance management. Currently serving as the NA IRM Technical Lead at Syngenta since June 2020 and also as the NA IRM Manager at BASF since April 2023, Sumerford has held various key roles throughout a distinguished career. Previous positions include Pest Resistance Modeling at Syngenta and Cotton IRM Technical Lead at both Monsanto Company and Bayer Crop Science. Sumerford began a career as a Research Entomologist at USDA-ARS from 2002 to 2010. Academically, Sumerford earned a Master’s Degree in Biology from Bucknell University and a Ph.D. in Entomology/Genetics from North Carolina State University, where an undergraduate degree in Zoology was also obtained.
