Dr. Georgios Markopoulos

Dr. Georgios Markopoulos is currently the Director of Global Strategy for BASF Battery Materials, where they lead the global strategy team focused on cathode active materials and recycling. With over eight years of experience in R&D, tech scouting, and business strategy, they previously held roles such as Senior Manager of Global Strategy for BASF's Performance Materials and R&D Lab Team Leader for Polyol Research. Dr. Markopoulos completed their PhD in Organic Chemistry at Technische Universität Braunschweig and has conducted postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, collaborating with notable institutions on OLED materials. Their educational background includes a diploma in Chemistry from Heidelberg University and a visiting student position in Computational Chemistry at Cornell University, where they worked under a Nobel Laureate.
