Jan Smet

Jan Smet has extensive experience in telecommunications and industrial infrastructure management, currently serving as Manager Connectivity, Automation Security & Industrial Telecom at BASF since 2012. In this role, Jan leads a team of 40 engineers and technicians, overseeing the engineering and maintenance of telecom infrastructures for over 50 production plants. Prior to BASF, Jan held various managerial positions at Telenet from 1997 to 2012, including roles focused on build support, network design, and service operations, effectively managing teams and optimizing operational processes. Earlier in the career, Jan worked at Electrabel in multiple IT and systems management roles and as a Technical Specialist at R.T.T, specializing in radio maintenance. Jan holds degrees in Telecom Computer Engineering from Hogeschool Antwerpen and has further qualifications in safety coordination from KU Leuven.
