Josh Williamson

Josh Williamson is a Principal Breeding Specialist for Short Day Onions at BASF Vegetable Seeds, where they manage the Pungent Red Onion Breeding Segment and the Elite Stock Seed program. They began their career in the military as a Munitions Systems Specialist with the California Air National Guard, developing strong logistical and technical skills. Josh earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2003, a Certificate in Biotechnology in 2005, and a Master of Science degree in Biology in 2006 from California State University, Fresno. At BASF, they continue to innovate in breeding and collaborate with various teams, following their previous role as an Assistant Short Day Onion Breeder at Bayer, where they focused on seed management and hybrid line development. Their extensive experience in the vegetable seed industry spans over 18 years, marked by a commitment to excellence and teamwork.
