Markus Weber is currently the Vice President of R&D focused on green transformation at BASF, a position held since 2026. Previously, they served as a Senior Research Manager in Process Development Petrochemicals from 2008 to 2026, where they led an interdisciplinary international team and transitioned projects from petrochemical to biobased resources. Markus also worked as a consultant optimizing chemical plants and as a technical advisor on site optimization projects. They earned a Dr. rer. nat. in Atmospheric Chemistry from Forschungszentrum Jülich and a Diplom Chemiker in Chemistry from Universität zu Köln.
