Michael Mitchell

Michael Mitchell is a Principal Research Scientist at BASF, where they have been since 2000. They have developed and scaled-up five generations of superabsorbent polymers and led multiple initiatives to enhance the performance and commercial viability of these products. Prior to this, Michael worked at Amcol as a chemist, co-developing ion-exchanging superabsorbent materials and managing project teams. Their career began at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where they contributed to the synthesis of polymeric materials for high-energy applications. Michael holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Arizona and a BS in Chemistry from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
