Michael Schelper is currently the Vice President of Operations at BASF, leading initiatives in the Acetylene Value Chain & Acids Europe. They previously headed Technology and Investments for Intermediates at BASF East Asia Headquarters from 2015 to 2019 and served as Deputy Plant Manager at BASF from 2010 to 2012. Michael has also held roles such as Senior Technology Manager, focusing on Operational Excellence and Innovation Strategy, and Research Manager in Chemicals & Engineering. They earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and completed postdoctoral research at Kyoto University.
