Omar Morales

Scientist II

Omar Morales is a seasoned scientist with extensive experience in fermentation and bioprocess development, currently serving as a Scientist II at BASF since November 2015. In this role, Omar specializes in industrial enzyme technology and leads research and development efforts, focusing on microbial fermentation and high-throughput screening processes. Previous positions include Scientist I at BASF, where responsibilities included executing small-scale fermentation experiments, and Process Development Associate I, managing pilot plant operations for enzyme production. Prior to BASF, Omar worked as a Senior Process Development Associate at BP, conducting large-scale fermentation experiments for ligno-cellulosic ethanol and overseeing laboratory practices as a shift lead. Omar began a career in research as a Research Associate at Meredith Gould Research Laboratory, focusing on biodiesel production from microalgae. Omar holds a BS/BA in Biochemistry & Cell Biology and Philosophy from UC San Diego.
