Peter Westerheide serves as Chief Economist and Vice President at BASF since September 2011. In addition to this role, Westerheide holds the position of Vorsitz Ausschuss Wirtschafts- und Marktanalysen at Verband der Chemischen Industrie e.V. (VCI) since October 2020 and chairs the Economic Outlook Taskforce for Cefic, starting from November 2014. Westerheide's academic contributions include a Research Associate role at ZEW - Leibniz-Zentrum für Europäische Wirtschaftsforschung since September 2011, following extensive experience at ZEW from 1999 to 2011 as Vice Head and Senior Researcher in the Department of International Finance and Financial Management. Educationally, Westerheide earned a Diplom-Ökonom from Universität Witten/Herdecke and a Dr. rer. pol. from the University of Münster.
