Karl Read

Karl Read has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Karl initially worked as a Teaching Assistant and Web Designer at the University of Stirling from 2001 to 2002. Following that, they held roles as Systems Support Analyst and 1st Line IT support at National Australia Group from 2002 to 2004. Karl then joined IDOX plc as a Senior Helpdesk Analyst from 2004 to 2007. After that, they served as an IT Systems Administrator at AREVA NP from 2008 to 2011, where they were involved in designing and implementing file storage and backup infrastructure, as well as administering various IT systems. From 2011 onwards, Karl joined Basware, where they initially worked as an IT Systems Engineer from 2011 to 2012. Karl then transitioned into a role as a Database Administrator from 2012 to 2014. Currently, they serve as the Lead Database Administrator at Basware since 2014, where they are responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining business critical databases hosted in AWS. Karl's expertise includes database architecture, backup and recovery, performance tuning, automation, security, database configuration, cost optimization, and promoting best practices.

Karl Read obtained a Bsc in Computing Science and Mathematics from the University of Stirling, where they studied from 1998 to 2002. Karl also holds certifications as an Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Professional, Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional, and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, which were obtained in 2020 and 2012 respectively.
