Ramona Sequeira

President, Global Portfolio Division at Baxalta

Ramona Sequeira is President of Takeda’s Global Portfolio Division, focused on enabling Takeda to accelerate growth through a global footprint and diverse portfolio and pipeline of transformational medicines and vaccines. The division supports growth of the company’s global brands through lifecycle management, geographic expansion and market penetration as well as supporting continued growth of late-stage pipeline and driving best-in-class launches across therapy areas – including Neuroscience, Gastroenterology, Rare Diseases, and Vaccines.

In this role, Ramona oversees Takeda’s Global Medical and Global Product and Launch Strategy functions, as well as the Vaccines Business Unit, in addition to regional business units, including, Europe and Canada, Growth and Emerging Markets, and China.

During more than 25 years in the biopharmaceutical industry, Ramona has led businesses across multiple markets, cultures, and healthcare systems. She has lived and worked in Canada, Europe, and the U.S. for Takeda and, prior to that, Eli Lilly. Through her longstanding commitment to designing strategies around the needs of patients, she has successfully launched products, integrated and transformed businesses, and delivered sustainable growth, while driving high employee engagement and organizational alignment.

Since joining Takeda in 2015 to lead Takeda’s US business unit, Ramona has been instrumental in shifting the business structure, portfolio and investment mix to enable focus, agility, and resiliency while aligning her organization around a common vision, values and culture. Her focus on trust and collaboration has enabled Takeda to build numerous strategic partnerships with other healthcare stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions across a wide range of areas including patient support, health equity and value-based care.

A passionate advocate of talent development, diversity and inclusion, and authentic leadership, Ramona is an active mentor and coach to individuals throughout the company and industry and participates in leadership forums inside and outside of Takeda.

Ramona was recently named the Chair of the PhRMA Board of Directors, the first female to be appointed to this position in the organization’s history; she previously served as Treasurer. As chair, she is focused on seeking out reforms and partnerships that increase access and affordability, address health inequities, and encourage innovation so the industry can continue to discover and develop cures and treatments for patients’ highest unmet needs. Ramona is also a member of Takeda’s global Executive Team, the Board of Directors of Edwards Life Sciences, and the Board of Trustees of Harvey Mudd College.

Ramona earned an MBA from McMaster University in Canada and a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in molecular genetics and molecular biology from the University of Toronto. She resides with her family in the Boston area.
