Lead Engineer (audio R&d) at BBC

Alan Archer-Boyd is a Lead Engineer in Audio R&D at the BBC since March 2022, co-leading engineering efforts in audio innovation. Additionally, Alan serves as a Visiting Scientist at the University of Cambridge and has lectured on Core skills for Audio at Anglia Ruskin University. Prior experience includes an Investigator Scientist role at the Medical Research Council where significant research was conducted on cochlear implants, as well as positions such as Voice Engineer at Northwestern University and Science Writer at ICF Mostra. Alan holds a PhD in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, a Master of Science in Acoustics and Music Technology from the University of Edinburgh, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Edinburgh.
