Jim Parkinson

Principal Data Analyst

Jim Parkinson is an accomplished data analyst and researcher with extensive experience in both commercial and academic settings. Currently serving as a Principal Data Analyst at BBC since January 2018, Parkinson has also held positions as a Senior Marketing Science Analyst and Marketing Science Analyst within the same organization. Prior to this, Parkinson was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science from July 2013 to August 2017, focusing on volitional decision-making and self-control using EEG and physiological measures. Earlier research work included a postdoctoral researcher role at UCL from November 2010 to July 2013, where the focus was on free will and self-control through behavioral psychology and EEG, along with teaching a Matlab programming course. Additionally, Parkinson contributed to research at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences from July 2008 to November 2010, investigating human movement perception. Educational credentials include a PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Sussex and a BS in Psychology from the University of Leeds.
