Liz Howell

Liz Howell is the Director of BBC Monitoring, where they lead an essential part of the BBC’s global newsgathering operation, tracking and analyzing local media in over 150 countries. Since assuming the role in 2019, they have been exploring the application of Generative AI to enhance service delivery. Previously, from 2001 to 2011, Liz edited various news and sports platforms at the BBC, managing significant change projects and enhancing the organization’s editorial strategies. They also held the position of Head of BBC Weather, where they oversaw a major transformation of the weather output, integrating new technologies and maintaining audience trust. Liz is committed to driving innovation and fostering collaboration within the media landscape.
