Lyn Champion

Lyn Champion is a highly experienced academic and media professional with a diverse background in documentary and broadcast journalism. Currently serving as a PhD Researcher at Birmingham City University since January 2025, Lyn also holds the position of Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University since November 2014, where responsibilities include course leadership for the MA Documentary Journalism program. Lyn's extensive history with the BBC Academy includes training staff in multi-platform and digital media since its inception in 2002. Additionally, Lyn has a substantial production portfolio as an Independent Producer/Director, creating a wide range of radio and video content, and has achieved several international awards for documentary work. Previous roles include Senior Lecturer at City, University of London, Head of Journalism at the University of Derby, and Executive Producer for various projects, alongside a robust educational background with degrees from Goldsmith’s University of London and The Manchester Metropolitan University.
