Matthew Barraclough

Matthew Barraclough is an executive lead at the BBC with a journalism career spanning from 1995, based in the North East of England. They have taken on various roles, including acting managing editor at BBC Newcastle and editor for BBC Tees and English Regions. In 2015, they led the creation of the Local Democracy Reporting Service and in 2023, they served as the editorial lead for a significant restructure enhancing local services across England. Currently, Barraclough focuses on advancing the BBC's local digital news services and developing engaging visualized content for radio. They have also contributed as a judge for the Radio Academy’s 30-under-30 initiative, highlighting emerging talent in UK radio.
