Software Engineering Manager - Core Data Platform at BBC

Matthew Card has extensive experience in software engineering and management, currently serving as the Software Engineering Manager for the Core Data Platform at the BBC since September 2009. In this role, Matthew oversees a team of Software Engineering Team Leads, Software Engineers, Data Engineers, and Test Engineers, fostering collaboration with Engineering, Architecture, and Product Management teams. Previous positions include Software Engineering Team Lead for Digital Publishing, where a focus on creativity and innovation within a multi-disciplinary agile team was emphasized. Matthew is also recognized as a Senior Leadership Advisor within the BBC Technology & Engineering Division's Senior Leadership Group since May 2020. Prior roles included contributions as a Software Engineer for the Core Services and Children’s Department, developing features for prominent BBC children's websites. Earlier experience includes web development and design for Hopeful Futures Charity and PHP web development at Playphone.
