Nicholas Watt is a seasoned journalist who has worked in national journalism for over 30 years, focusing on UK and EU politics. Since becoming the Political Editor of BBC Newsnight in 2016, Nicholas has gained recognition for insightful reporting on the complexities of UK politics, especially during the Brexit era, and often contributes to various BBC Radio 4 programs. Prior to joining the BBC, Nicholas served as the Chief Political Correspondent and European Editor for The Guardian, as well as holding positions at The Observer and The Times, where they began their career in journalism. Nicholas holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University and a degree in History from the University of York.
