Ron Chakraborty

Ron Chakraborty is the Head of Major Events & General Sport at BBC Sport, a position held since 2023, where they oversee output beyond football and cricket while focusing on productions such as the Olympics and Wimbledon. Prior to this, Ron served as Lead Executive for Major Events at BBC Sport from 2012 to 2024, where they were the editorial lead for major events, including the Olympics and Commonwealth Games. Ron's career began as a reporter/sub-editor at the Slough & Windsor Observer from 1994 to 1998, and they also worked as a freelance sub-editor for the Daily Express in 1998. Ron holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Film & Television from Christ Church College Canterbury, earned between 1989 and 1992.
