Tom Watt-Smith

Tom Watt-Smith is a seasoned media professional currently serving as the Lead Commissioning Editor for Natural History at the BBC since September 2025. Previously, Tom held the position of Creative Director at Nutopia from June 2023 to September 2025, after serving as Creative Director and Head of Factual at Lion Television from December 2019 to June 2023. Tom's experience also includes the role of Executive Producer (Director) at RAW, where notable projects included "Drowning in Plastic" and "Meat: A Threat to our Planet?" From October 2015 to January 2018, Tom worked at Studio Lambert as an Executive Producer and Showrunner for various programs. Earlier in the career, Tom served as a Series Director at RAW and IWC Media Ltd, along with directing for the BBC across significant programs such as "Horizon" and "Tomorrow's World." Tom holds a degree from the University of Leeds, which was completed between 1999 and 2001.
