Alfonso Gomez

Alfonso Gomez is an international banking professional with over 31 years of experience and serves as CEO of BBVA in Switzerland, where they lead a diverse private banking team and have positioned the institution as the first traditional European bank to operate in the blockchain space with Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDC. They are a member of the board of the Swiss Finance Institute (since 2023) and previously held multiple roles at BBVA and served in industry and advisory roles such as advisory committee member at Cyverse (2020–2025) and vice chairman of the AFBS Board of Directors (2018–2023). They completed executive education at Singularity University (2018), a Blockchain and Cryptocurrency program at MIT (2023), a PDG at IESE Business School (1996–1997), and studied Economic and Business Sciences at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (1987–1992).
