Joiel Akilan

Joiel Akilan is an accomplished finance executive with extensive experience in banking across South Asia. Currently serving as Executive Director & Chief Representative for BBVA in India since April 2007, Joiel is responsible for strategic initiatives and mergers and acquisitions in the region, reporting directly to the CEO of BBVA Asia. Prior to this role, Joiel held the position of Country Representative for Intesa Sanpaolo, overseeing operations in India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh and building the corporate loan book. Additionally, Joiel served as Deputy Representative for Raiffeisen Zentralbank Oesterreich AG and Baden Wuerttembergische Bank AG, managing correspondent banking and trade finance activities. Joiel's career began at Deutsche Bank as an Associate, focusing on cash and trade business. Academic achievements include a Corporate Development Program from IESE Business School and an LLB from Government Law College.
