Tom van Huijstee

Tom Van Huijstee is an accomplished professional in risk management and capital adequacy with extensive experience in the financial sector. Currently, Tom serves as the Head of Risk Control Assurance for Non-Financial Risk at BBVA, having previously led projects related to internal controls and the assessment of operational risks for new products. Tom’s prior roles include Director of Credit Risk Models at CatalunyaCaixa, where responsibilities encompassed managing regulatory capital adequacy and implementing Basel III. Tom’s career also features significant positions at Caixa Catalunya and Soluziona, focusing on Basel II regulations and risk management consultancy. Currently pursuing a DBA in Management & Technology at Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Tom's educational background includes a Master's in Financial Economics from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and further training at MIT Sloan School of Management.
