Bruce German is the current Director at BCD Bioscience. Prior to this, they worked as a Junior Specialist at the University of California, Davis from March 2016 to July 2020. There, they worked under Maria Maldonado-Gomez with in-vitro gut fermentation models using mini bioreactor arrays. This umbrella project encompassed microbial ecology, bacterial genetics, carbohydrate chemistry, and an understanding of host metabolism. From June 2015 to August 2015, they worked as a Process Sciences Intern at OncoMed Pharmaceuticals where they performed column chromatography on over 50 samples and analyzed SEC, icIEF, and other assay results for 3 stability studies. Bruce also prepared buffer solutions on a daily basis and for a 3-month long product formulation study. Bruce has also held the positions of Student Liason and Freshmen Representative at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers from September 2015 to June 2016 and November 2014 to June 2015, respectively. In August 2017 to September 2017, they interned at Kagawa University as a Food Safety Intern - Short Stay Program.
Bruce German has a Bachelor's Degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of California, Davis as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Nottingham.
