Chris Biscoe

Director Legal, Compliance & Enforcement at BC Financial Services Authority

Chris Biscoe has a diverse work experience in the legal field. Their most recent position is as the Director Legal, Compliance & Enforcement at BC Financial Services Authority, starting in 2022. Prior to that, they worked at the B.C. Office of the Ombudsperson from 2012 to 2022. During their time there, they held various roles, including Manager of Investigations and Ombudsperson Officer, where they conducted investigations, interviewed high-level individuals, analyzed evidence, and ensured compliance with laws and regulations.

Before joining the B.C. Office of the Ombudsperson, Chris Biscoe was the owner of their own criminal defense law practice, Chris Biscoe, Criminal Defence Lawyer. From 2006 to 2012, they conducted criminal trials and appeals, wrote legal arguments, and demonstrated expertise in complex legislation.

Chris also has experience as an Associate Lawyer at Lafontaine & Associates from 2003 to 2006, where they acted as criminal defense counsel, wrote legal arguments for various courts including the Supreme Court of Canada, and mentored junior associates and articling students.

Chris Biscoe obtained a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Philosophy, which spanned from 1994 to 1998 at the University of Victoria. Following this, they pursued a Juris Doctorate degree in Law from 1999 to 2003 at the same institution.
