Michael Eso

Michael Eso is an experienced labor leader currently serving as the Director of Field Services for Vancouver Island at the BC General Employees' Union (BCGEU), a position held since August 2013. In this role, Michael oversees BCGEU Area Offices in Victoria and Nanaimo, providing essential services to union members and acting as the chief negotiator for the Public Service Bargaining Unit, successfully negotiating a significant agreement covering 27,000 members. Prior to this, Michael was the President of the Victoria Labour Council from 2008 to March 2020, representing a membership of 25,000. Additional experience includes serving as a Ministerial Advisor to the Honorable Melanie Mark in 2018-2019, a Staff Representative for BCGEU from 1995 to 2013, and Social Worker for the Province of BC from 1982 to 1991. Michael holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Victoria and a Diploma in Liberal Arts from Okanagan College.
