David Deaton has a diverse work experience in the telecommunications industry. David began their career as an Engineering Manager at ADTRAN in 1991 and worked there until 1999. David then joined DiscoveryCom as the VP of Engineering, where they led the engineering effort for a startup until it was acquired by Nokia in 2000. At Nokia, they served as the Director of Engineering, managing a global team responsible for DSL products.

In 2002, David became a Partner at Sipsey Ventures, an angel investment partnership focused on Huntsville-based start-ups. David provided consulting and occasional full-time roles for portfolio companies until 2007.

David then joined Digium as the VP Engineering, overseeing product development efforts and leading successful acquisitions and product launches. David later became the VP of Product, driving the unification of product portfolios and future product strategy following the acquisition of Digium by Sangoma.

At Sangoma, David held various executive roles, including VP of Product Management and Executive VP of Products & Services. David successfully led the post-acquisition integration of product and services teams and was responsible for global product development and cloud services operations.

Currently, David is at BCM One, where they serve as the Senior Vice President of Engineering.

David Deaton received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from Mississippi State University, from 1984 to 1988. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Product Management from Pragmatic Marketing/Institute.
