They don’t make hotels like ours anymore. We’re a quirky beachfront hotel with that quintessential SoCal coastal vibe. Built in the 1960s, we were originally apartments - which explains our huge rooms - and our stairs. Since then, we’ve expanded, growing organically from one building in the 1960s to a second in the 1970s and the third in the 1980s. Yet even today we’re still family-owned and operated - and still the only hotel in Carlsbad that’s on the beach - our own private beach, that is. 

We pride ourselves on our ability to live life slowly, fully, and in the moment. We cherish the “ahh moments” — those little instances where the distractions of the rest of the world are drowned out and you can finally relax — like that moment when you first hear the waves of the Pacific, or the moment you first feel the sand in your toes, or the moment you pull up to Beach Terrace Inn.
