Senior Programmer at Beamdog

Kevin Smith has over 30 years of work experience in various roles and companies. Kevin started their career as a Software Design Engineer at Microsoft in 1989. After that, they worked as a Systems Software Engineer at GeoVision, where they designed and programmed graphics functions and constructed widget-based interfaces. In 1993, they joined Prior Data Sciences as a Software Engineer, where they designed and implemented a multi-platform telecommunications capacity modeling tool.

In 1995, Kevin briefly worked as an Object Oriented Programming Lecturer at Algonquin College. Kevin then joined Nortel in 1996 and held multiple roles, including Senior Software Designer, Software Engineer, and Software Architect across various projects.

In 2005, Kevin joined Ossian Studios as a Lead Programmer and designed software and wrote character dialogues for classic Dungeons and Dragons RPGs. Kevin then moved to Avaya in 2009 as a Software Architect in Unified Communications.

In 2014, they joined Obsidian Entertainment as a Lead Programmer, where they led a small programming team and contributed to an award-winning role-playing game with card-based combat. Kevin collaborated closely with artists and user interface specialists to create a unique and adaptable user interface.

Most recently, Kevin worked at Beamdog as a Senior Programmer, where they implemented advanced multiplayer networking features and architected the port of Neverwinter Nights from PC to Android and iOS.

Throughout their career, Kevin has demonstrated proficiency in various programming languages and has experience in game development, software architecture, and networking.

Kevin Smith attended the University of Waterloo from 1987 to 1992, where they pursued a Bachelor of Mathematics (BMath) degree in the field of Computer Science.
