Luis Barrera

Luis Barrera has an extensive work experience in data and computational sciences. Luis is currently the Senior Vice President of Data Sciences at Beam Therapeutics, leading a team focused on integrating high-throughput data, data science, and data engineering to support the company's scientific efforts. Prior to this, they held roles as the Vice President and Senior Director of Computational Sciences at the same company.

Before joining Beam Therapeutics, Luis worked at Arrakis Therapeutics as a Senior Scientist in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. Their responsibilities included developing software for analyzing chemical probing data to predict RNA structure.

Luis also has experience at Editas Medicine as a Scientist in Computational Biology and at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a PhD Student. Additionally, they worked as a Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin.

Luis Barrera holds a PhD in Biophysics from Harvard University, which they earned between 2010 and 2015. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics at The University of Texas at Austin, from 2007 to 2010.
