Heewon Chae

Heewon Chae is a skilled robotics and software engineer with extensive experience in SLAM and localization technologies. Currently serving as Tech Lead and Senior Robotic Software Engineer at Bear Robotics since May 2025, Heewon focuses on robot product development within the Robotics Division. Previously, as Senior Software Engineer at MAXST, Heewon developed a spatial AI engine for smart glasses, specializing in visual-inertial SLAM and 3D reconstruction. At Samsung Electronics, Heewon contributed to the development of SLAM/navigation systems for robot vacuum cleaners. Heewon's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on robotics from Korea University, complemented by a B.S. in the same field.
