Aitken

Sue Aitken is a Principal Geotechnical Engineer and Manager of Mining Services at Beca, with over 25 years of experience in the geotechnical engineering field, particularly in the mining industry. They have specialized in tailings behavior and management, working across diverse regions including Western Canada, Australia, and the South Pacific. Their pioneering interest in dewatered tailings has led them to study and advocate for alternative tailings management solutions, such as dry-stacking. Aitken has previously held positions at Jacques Whitford, Hardy BBT Ltd, Klohn, and Thurber Engineering. They earned a Bachelor of Engineering with honors in Civil Engineering from the University of Canterbury and attended the University of Alberta.
