Matthew Cushen has a diverse work experience, starting in 2015 when they became the Managing Partner at Worth Capital, a venture capital company that invests in and supports businesses with the potential to build loved consumer or B2B brands. Matthew has also worked as the Founder of Uprising Limited, where they helped large businesses find new sources of growth and foster innovation.

In 2020, Cushen joined Agile Retail as an Advisory Board member, using their retail experience to refine the company's proposition and oversee select client projects. Matthew also served as an Investor Director at UniZest, representing investors in the Start-Up Series Fund and supporting the rapid growth of the banking app and card for workers and students coming to the UK.

In 2021, Cushen took on the role of Investor Director for ONEɘ, a company focused on designing and manufacturing clothes with a lower environmental and societal impact. Matthew is also an Investor Director for Bird Eyewear, Weekly10, VeeLoop, and Bedfolk, representing investors in the Start-Up Series Fund and supporting the rapid growth of these companies.

Additionally, Cushen has served as a Non-Executive Director for iChild.co.uk and has worked with leadership teams of large UK and global retailers, including IKEA and Waitrose, during their time at Uprising Limited.

Matthew Cushen attended Churston Grammar School from 1983 to 1987. After completing their secondary education, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Business Studies at Kingston University from 1988 to 1992.
