Derrick Bulawa has had a long and successful career in the telecommunications industry. Derrick began their career in 1985 as the Network Engineering Manager at Equatorial Communications, then moved to Equitorial/Contel ASC in the same position. In 1990, they became the General Manager and Vice President of Satellite and Technical Operations at STAR TV, launching the first regional satellite broadcaster of western news, sport and other programming into Asia, achieving a daily viewership of over 180 million within three years. Derrick then moved to Pacific Century Group in 1994 as the Chief Technology Advisor. In 1995, they became the Chief Operating Officer and President of North Asia at UNIFI Communications, a $48 million provider of value-added telecom services with operations in 13 countries, and achieved a ranking of 20th on INC Magazine's list of the 500 fastest growing private companies. In 1999, they became the President and Founder of Zone Telecom, and the Chief Executive Officer of e-Kong Group. Finally, in 2004, they became the President and Founder of Tahoe Consulting Group, and in 2006 they became the CEO of BEK Communications.

Derrick Bulawa attended Devry Institute of Technology from 1982 to 1985, where they earned a BSEET in Computer & Communications Systems Design.
