Eslam Elshahat

Eslam Elshahat, Ph.D., currently serves as an Implementation Manager at Benchling since December 2020. Prior to this role, Eslam worked as a Life Sciences Consultant at Putnam Associates from July 2019 to December 2020 and founded the 180 Degrees Consulting branch at Rice University, where Eslam also held the position of co-president from May 2018 to May 2019. Eslam completed a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Rice University, where research focused on the genetic footprints of species hybridization, employing genomics, bioinformatics, and big data analysis. Previous experience includes roles at the Consulting Club at the Texas Medical Center as Vice President for External Affairs, co-founding BioTech City, and conducting research on ancient DNA at the Egyptian Museum. Eslam gained additional research experience through internships at Max Planck Institute and Københavns Universitet. Educational background includes a Master of Science from Rice University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Cairo University.
