Gene Kohout

Gene Kohout is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in product and process development. Currently serving as the Director of Engineering at BENCHMADE since April 2021, Gene has held various leadership roles within the company, including Director of Product Development and Sr Manager of Product Development. Prior experience includes roles at Oregon Tool as Engineering Manager of Process Engineering, and Blount International, Inc. as a Senior Process Development Engineer and Machine Design Engineer. Gene's career began at Tidland Corp. as Project Engineer and included a position as Mechanical Engineer at DWFritz Automation. Gene earned a degree from the University of Portland, and foundational education was completed at Gunderson High School.
