Colin Eichinger

VP of Engineering

Colin Eichinger has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2003 as an Independent Researcher at New York University, where they studied cell signaling in pathogenic amoebae and discovered a new cell signaling phenomenon. This work was selected for a semifinalist award in the Intel Science Talent Search. From 2006 to 2009, Colin was an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Cornell University, studying conductive organic polymers and developing a pathogen biosensor. In 2008, they were a Life Sciences Intern at Corning Incorporated, supporting the investigation of applications for a novel high throughput live cell optical sensing system. From 2009 to 2016, Colin was a Research Associate at the University of Utah, investigating platelet-surface interactions with respect to implanted medical devices and developing a novel protein printing technique and a microfluidic platelet priming and anti-platelet drug efficacy assay. Colin's research resulted in the publication of 5 peer reviewed articles and assisted in acquiring $1. Finally, from 2016 to present, Colin has been VP of Engineering and R&D Engineer at Bend Labs, where they have been an integral member of a team developing elastomeric stretch, flex and pressure sensors for medical and technological applications. Colin's prototypes have assisted in the company bringing in $1M in venture funding.

Colin Eichinger began their educational journey at Cornell University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Materials Science in 2009. Colin then continued their studies at the University of Utah, earning a Master of Science (MS) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering in 2015 and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical Engineering in 2016.
