Alejandro Berenstein

Professor Berenstein graduated from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico and completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Mount Sinai Hospital. He is currently a Clinical Professor of Radiology, Neurosurgery, and Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he is the Director of the Hyman-Newman Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Mount Sinai Health System and Director of Pediatric Endovascular Neurosurgery. Dr. Berenstein developed and pioneered the field of Interventional Radiology. In 2009 he received the most prestigious international award in Endovascular Neurosurgery, the first Serbinenko Golden Sign Award in Neurosurgery, in Moscow. Dr. Berenstein was the first president of the World Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology.
