Jon Burroughs

Jon Burroughs has a diverse work experience that spans multiple industries. Jon started as an Electrical Engineer and Project Lead at Visimid Technologies on a contractual basis in 2016 before becoming a Senior Electrical Engineer at Black Diamond Advanced Technology in 2016. In 2018, they became a Principal Electrical Engineer at Misty Robotics and continued until 2019 when they became an Independent Contractor for AI Hardware at Boulder AI in July of that year. Jon subsequently became a Principal Electrical Engineer at Left Hand Robotics in October 2019 but had to leave in March 2020 due to COVID-19 shutdowns. In 2021, they became an Electrical Design Engineer - Lunar Lander at Deep Space Systems before starting as an Electronics and Electrical Systems Engineer for Lunar Transportation-Avionics at BLUE ORIGIN in February 2022. Currently, they are the Founder and CEO of Benevolent Robotics, which they started in September 2020. From 2006 to 2016, Jon also worked as an Instructor at Krav Maga DFW, where they taught self-defense, submission grappling, and strength and conditioning. Before that, they founded Geek Strength Labs LLC in 2011, where they served as Founder/CEO/Head Coach.

Jon Burroughs has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Cognitive Science from Carnegie Mellon University, which they obtained from 1989 to 1997. Jon also obtained Commercial Diver Training for Underwater Inspection/NDT from the College of Oceaneering in 1992 to 1993. Burroughs earned a Master of Business Administration - MBA from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2020 to 2022, before obtaining a Master of Engineering in Engineering Management from the same institution from 2022 to 2023. In addition to their degrees, Burroughs has completed several certifications, including Venture Deals from Techstars and Become a Technical Program Manager and Managing and Leading Developers from LinkedIn. Jon also has certifications in various fields, including Deep Learning Nanodegree and Control of Mobile Robots from Coursera and Neuroeconomics from the Higher School of Economics via Coursera. Moreover, Burroughs has a research diver certification from U.C. Berkeley scientific diving program.
