Beni started when Sam Schellenberg was asked in a UC San Diego AI Industries course how to solve the growing AI crisis in education. He brought the challenge home to his father Greg, principal of Malibu Middle School and former superintendent. 

To turn the vision into a real platform, they partnered with Jenna Menking a software engineer named by Elle Magazine as one of the most influential digital players of her generation, who architected and built the Beni platform. The name honors the Schellenberg family's legacy in education, including the founding of the Sabin-Schellenberg School by Ben Schellenberg.
