Tony Ma has a diverse range of work experience spanning various industries and roles. Tony started their career as a Programmer at Sprint in 1996. Tony then worked as a Project Manager at UUnet, where they led a team and successfully completed several projects, including a large COTS platform implementation.

After that, Tony served as a Project Manager at Winstar, overseeing the integration of an acquisition and leading a successful migration/implementation project. Tony then joined Accenture Singapore as a Senior Consultant/Subject Matter Expert, working on a $50 million project and supporting the migration of legacy systems to a new platform.

Tony later joined Far EasTone as a Project Manager, where they oversaw a project to upgrade the backend platform and launched a successful SMS upgrade platform. Tony saved the organization $4 million annually by implementing new systems and SMS algorithms to prevent financial fraud.

In 2005, Tony worked as a Consultant for the Department of Veterans Affairs, where they played a key role in launching the MyHealtheVet portal, training the team, and leading the IV&V effort. Tony grew the user base to 800,000 in the first year.

Tony then worked at the Maryland Department of Budget & Management as an IV&V Task Order Manager, modernizing the state's IT oversight process and standardizing project management practices. Tony helped terminate a failing $250 million Medicaid project.

From 2009 to 2015, Tony served as a Program Manager at the Maryland Department of Information Technology. Tony oversaw the state's IT Portfolio, modernized procurement processes, and implemented project management and agile practices.

Tony'smost recent position was as the CEO/Co-Founder of Benten Technologies, Inc. Tony served as the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on multiple research projects addressing issues in digital health and safety. Tony secured over $20 million in funding and conducted research on various topics such as maternal/child health, aging, obesity, HIV/STI, substance abuse, and opioid use.

Tony Ma's education history begins in 1992 when they enrolled in the University of Virginia. Tony pursued a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering and completed their studies in 1996. Following that, Tony attended The George Washington University from 1998 to 1999, where they obtained a Master's degree in Telecommunications and Computer Networks.

In addition to their formal education, Tony Ma has obtained several certifications. In April 2005, they became a Certified Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute. In May 2016, they received the SAFe® 4.0 Agilist (SA) Certification. Tony further enhanced their skills by acquiring the Design Thinking certification from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in January 2018. More recently, in April 2020, they obtained the Venture Deals Certification from NovoEd and the What If Fellowship from the What If Fellowship institution in December 2020.
