Principal Devops Engineer at Bentley Systems

Perry McKenzie has a diverse work experience that spans over several companies and roles. Perry started their career as an ATG Developer at Critical Mass, where they contributed to the development of a web application for Hyatt Hotel properties. Perry then worked as a Java Developer and Build Consultant at Neteller, where they migrated a web application from Cold Fusion to Java.

After that, Perry took on the role of a Build/Deployment Automation Consultant at the Energy Resources Conservation Board, where they automated build and deployment processes for multiple projects. Perry then became a Senior Java Application Administrator at AESO, where they ensured the smooth functioning of critical systems related to the energy market and electrical grid.

Perry also worked at Shaw Communications as an Environment Specialist and later as a Site Reliability Engineer, where they supported the Development and QA departments and assisted in creating an SRE department. Perry then joined Link Investment Management as a DevOps Consultant, where they administered builds and deployments and provisioned infrastructure.

Perry's work experience also includes a position as a part-time Consultant and IT Instructor at SAIT Polytechnic, where they taught software courses and managed student exercises and virtual machines. Perry also owned Netfocus Consulting, where they provided website and server administration services to small and medium-sized businesses.

Currently, Perry is working as a Principal DevOps Engineer at Bentley Systems, where they are involved in building infrastructure platforms, automating deployments, and participating in the migration of client stacks to Azure Cloud.

Throughout their career, Perry has demonstrated expertise in various tools and technologies such as Java, AWS, GCP, SQL, Tomcat, Apache, and more. Perry has experience collaborating with teams, managing projects, and implementing monitoring and alerting strategies.

Perry McKenzie attended the Information Technology Institute in 2001, where they studied Applied Information Technology. Perry also has a certification as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate from Amazon, obtained in September 2017. In 2010, Perry obtained an I.S.P. (Information Systems Professional) Certification from CIPS (Canada's Association of Information Technology Professionals). Perry has recently obtained two certifications from The Linux Foundation: CKA: Certified Kubernetes Administrator and CKAD: Certified Kubernetes Application Developer, both in January 2024. Perry is also an alumni of Simplilearn.
