BeRead was founded in 2025 by Merle Bennett and Fergus Edmondson,  two senior publishing strategists who spent decades shaping globally recognised authors, books, and brands inside Big Five publishers. With that industry experience we recognised a gap in the market. Authors navigating independent routes were often left overwhelmed, under-served or stuck with one-size-fits-all solutions.

We asked a simple question: What if there was a smarter, more agile, more empowering way to publish?

So we created BeRead—a full-funnel publishing consultancy that blends the editorial excellence, strategic thinking, and commercial firepower of traditional publishing with the flexibility, innovation, and intimacy of a boutique agency.
We’re not a vanity press, and we’re not a marketing agency. We’re a plug-and-play partner that delivers everything from manuscript editing to media campaigns, author branding to audience strategy—tailored, ethical, and built for impact.
