Bergen Kjøtt is one of Norway’s largest independent, non-profit music production houses and the largest resource of its kind in Western Norway. Housed in a former 1900s margarine and meat factory, we are continuously working on the sustainable transformation of our heritage building to make it more accessible to more people.

We are home to 28 permanent music, sound, and recording studios. These provide long-term and stable workplaces for everyone, from up-and-coming to globally renowned musicians, composers, DJs, producers, and more.

With two multifunctional venues and a public programme of more than 150 events a year, Bergen Kjøtt supports and builds networks between the music industry, grassroots organisations, local communities and cultural organisers.

Through GRIP, our award-winning training centre for sound and lighting engineering with a specific focus on improving gender balance behind the scenes, our venue also serves as an important training ground. We support the career development of new technicians to increase diversity and participation in culture, both on and off stage.
