Alan Poon has over 25 years of experience in nuclear science and neutrino physics, with a current position as Program Head of the Fundamental Symmetries and Neutrinos Program at Berkeley Lab since July 1998. Responsibilities include developing scientific programs, managing finances and personnel, and promoting research initiatives. Poon has led significant collaborations in neutrino research, notably as Physics Analysis Coordinator for the Nobel-Prize-winning SNO experiment and has contributed to various high-profile experiments such as KamLAND and KATRIN. Previous roles include Deputy Division Director and scientific research positions at institutions like Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the University of Washington, with a strong focus on advanced detection technologies and statistical analysis of large data sets. Poon holds a PhD and a BSc in Physics from The University of British Columbia.
