Bill Tivol

Bill Tivol possesses extensive experience in electron microscopy and cryogenic transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM). Currently serving as a Scientific Engineering Associate at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Bill Tivol focuses on cryo-TEM for biological specimens. Previous roles include Research Scientist at Aerospace Corporation, where Bill Tivol engaged in advanced microscopy projects, and Applications Engineer at FEI Company, working with high-end electron cryomicroscopes. As a Staff Scientist at Caltech, Bill Tivol managed the cryo-TEM facility and trained users. Early career experience includes a long-term position as a Research Scientist at the New York State Department of Health. Bill Tivol holds a PhD and BS in Physics from UC Berkeley and Caltech, respectively, and has been a member of the Microscopy Society of America since 1980.
