Bowen Deng

Bowen Deng is a Graduate Student Researcher at Berkeley Lab, specializing in battery design and modeling using first principle calculations and machine learning, with a focus on AI-assisted simulations for Li-ion battery materials. Previous experience includes a role as a Student Researcher at Google DeepMind, working on AI for Material Discovery, and a position as a Research Assistant at Microsoft, where Bowen contributed to projects at the intersection of AI and science. Bowen also served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at UC Santa Barbara, conducting research on topological Dirac semimetals and their thermal-electric applications. Bowen holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from UC Santa Barbara and is currently pursuing a PhD in Materials Science at the University of California, Berkeley.
